Sprint Car Driver Scott Semmelmann Killed Saturday During Race Practice

This year continues to be a sad one for sprint car racing. This weekend, 47-year-old Scott Semmelmann was killed in a crash during practice at Beaver Dam Raceway near Milwaukee.

This was Semmelmann's first race in the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Car Series.

The AP reports Semmelmann's car hit another one during practice, then flipped three times and hit the outside concrete wall. The race was canceled.

According to a memorial Facebook page, Semmelmann was a husband and a father to three children. Information on how to donate to his family is on the page.

The crash comes about a month and a half after driver Kevin Ward Jr. was killed after being hit by Tony Stewart's car at another sprint car race in upstate New York. That crash is under review by a grand jury.
